The recording
Recorded at Wessex Sound Studios in London under the direction of producer Chris Thomas and engineer Bill Price. The sound was achieved through Steve Jones' precise, tight rhythm playing combined with heavy layering of multiple guitar tracks. Unlike the chaotic live reputation of the band, the studio recordings featured meticulous overdubbing, with Jones often double-tracking parts and occasionally recording bass parts himself to ensure the 'wall of sound' thickness.
