The recording
Recorded at Fantasy Studios, Berkeley, by producer Rob Cavallo for the 'Dookie' album. Billie Joe Armstrong tracked his guitar parts in a control room/booth setup, often monitoring the sound through the modified Marshall heads run into a 4x12 cabinet. The iconic 'Dookie' sound was created by blending two distinct modified Marshall Plexi signals, a technique that avoided the use of distortion pedals for the primary rhythm sound.
