The recording
Recorded for the 1978 album 'Road to Ruin' at the studio, produced by T. Erdelyi (Tommy Ramone) and Ed Stasium. The band opted for a tight, live-in-the-studio feel, layering guitars from different amps to thicken the sound without the use of effects pedals or complex post-production editing. Johnny's signature sound relied on his 'piston-like' constant downstroking and cranked Marshall stacks.
