Recorded on November 23, 1936, at the Gunter Hotel in San Antonio, Texas, by producer Don Law. Robert Johnson performed solo in the hotel's Room 414 using a portable recording system. The session is for its raw, direct capture of his unique multi-part fingerstyle technique which utilized bass lines, chords, and melody simultaneously, often described as a 'boogie' pattern.
