The recording
The song was recorded between 1966 and 1967 at Stax Records in Memphis, Tennessee. Produced by Jim Stewart, the session featured the legendary Stax house band, Booker T. & the M.G.'s, with Steve Cropper on rhythm guitar, Donald 'Duck' Dunn on bass, and Al Jackson Jr. on drums, along with the Memphis Horns. Albert King's unique approach involved playing a right-handed guitar upside down, which allowed him to bend strings by pulling them downward, contributing to his signature multi-string searing sustain.
