The recording
The album was recorded in January 1984 at Power Station Studios in New York City. Produced by Stevie Ray Vaughan, Double Trouble (Tommy Shannon and Chris Layton), Richard Mullen, and Jim Capfer, the sessions aimed to capture the band's live energy. Stevie performed his guitar tracks in a large isolation area near the drums. Additional clean-sounding guitar overdubs and mixing effects, such as the Roland Dimension D, were utilized to thicken the final mix.
