The recording
The song was recorded between January and February 1975 at The Record Plant in New York City for the album 'Toys in the Attic'. Produced by Jack Douglas, the sessions utilized a 16-track MCI tape setup. The riff was born from a jam session and titled after a joke from the film 'Young Frankenstein'. Joe Perry recorded his guitar parts after Steven Tyler's vocals to weave around the vocal phrasing, utilizing the studio's house Ampeg amps rather than the Marshall stacks often associated with his live sound.
