The recording
Recorded in 1987 at the studios used for 'Appetite for Destruction' with producer Mike Clink. The riff was born from a casual jam session in a house shared by the band members. Slash used a Kris Derrig Les Paul replica and a rented, high-gain modified Marshall amplifier. The recording involved layering and precise microphone placement (typically Shure SM57s) to capture the raw, organic, and mid-heavy character of the performance.
