The recording
Recorded in 1979 at Roundhouse Studios, London, with producer Mutt Lange and engineer Tony Platt. The band tracked the song live with the intention of capturing a 'vintage British, live-band' sound. Angus and Malcolm tracked together, often recording with high volume to drive the Marshall power tubes into natural distortion. The studio acoustics were relatively 'dead,' necessitating the use of specific mic placements (Neumann U67/U87) and room ambient setups to create the final wall-of-sound production.
