The recording
The song was recorded at St. Catherine's Court in Bath during the OK Computer sessions, produced by Nigel Godrich. While often cited as one of the band's simpler, folk-inspired tracks, the recording involves intricate layering. Ed O'Brien played the Rickenbacker 360 for guitar parts, while the famous 'swirling' outro was achieved by feeding an AMS digital delay back into itself, with O'Brien manually adjusting the parameters to create chaotic, self-oscillating noise.
