The recording
The AM album was recorded at Sage & Sound in Los Angeles and Rancho De La Luna, produced by James Ford. Departing from the 'live-in-a-room' style of previous records, the band focused on groove, often tracking bass and drums first. Alex Turner's guitar parts were recorded separately to ensure clean, precise layering, with a focus on simple but deliberate tones derived from his vintage Selmer and Magnatone amplifiers rather than pedal-heavy signal paths.
