The recording
Recorded at The Manor Studio in Oxfordshire during the sessions for the 1992 album 'Wish'. The track was co-produced by David M. Allen and The Cure. The 'sparkly' tone was achieved by an accidental oversight during mixing: Robert Smith left the tape recorder's Varispeed control engaged, raising the pitch by a quarter tone and tightening the sonic texture, which the band felt added to the song's buoyant, optimistic feel.
