The recording
The album 'Piece of Mind' was tracked at Compass Point Studios in Nassau, Bahamas, in early 1983. Produced by Martin Birch, the sessions utilized a live, room-filling approach with multiple microphones capturing the cabinets to preserve the band's natural performance energy. Guitarists Dave Murray and Adrian Smith tracked their parts using a 'gain-stacking' technique, feeding boosted Marshalls to achieve their signature saturated, articulate metal tone.
