The recording
The 'Mr. Crowley' solo was recorded for the 1980 debut album 'Blizzard of Ozz' at Ridge Farm Studio. The production was handled by Max Norman, Ozzy Osbourne, Randy Rhoads, and Bob Daisley. The signature 'shimmer' and thickness often attributed to modulation effects were actually the result of Randy's meticulous double and triple-tracking technique, combined with the specific mid-hump response of his heavily EQ'd Marshall stack.
