The recording
The album was recorded at Battery Studios, London, in early 1982. Producer Martin Birch, known for his work with Deep Purple and Black Sabbath, oversaw the sessions. The process was rigorous, with the band tracking intensely to capture the 'New Wave of British Heavy Metal' sound, marking Bruce Dickinson's debut and a significant evolution in Smith and Murray's tonal approach.
