The recording
The 1992 version of 'Autumn Leaves' was recorded during intimate solo sessions intended for the 'Songs for Ellen' project. Unlike his typical studio recordings with a Gibson ES-175 or Ibanez signature through a Polytone jazz amp, this performance captures the raw, unprocessed sound of Pass on a nylon-string guitar, complete with natural ambient details like chair squeaks and finger noise, emphasizing a very personal, unplugged atmosphere.
