The recording
The track was recorded for the 1982 album The Number of the Beast, produced by Martin Birch. The recording process relied on a combination of Dave Murray's and Adrian Smith's distinct guitar styles, tracking multiple layers to capture the characteristic 'galloping' Iron Maiden sound. Most tones were achieved using stock Marshall tube heads (JMP/JCM800) cranked to high volume to exploit tube saturation, augmented by precise studio mic placement and performance consistency rather than heavy post-processing.
