The recording

The twin‑lead guitars were tracked in 2005 at Thin Ice Studios. Herman Li and Sam Totman recorded their parts on Ibanez S‑series guitars, routing the signal through a Boss GT‑6 multi‑effects unit into a Marshall JCM 800 head feeding a classic 1960 4×12 cabinet. The GT‑6’s high‑gain ‘Metal’ preset and added boost gave the searing distortion that sits front‑and‑center in the mix, while the tight tremolo bridge and fast‑neck access of the Ibanez allowed the ultra‑fast picking and sweep‑picked arpeggios heard throughout the track.
