The recording
The song was produced by Kid Harpoon and Tyler Johnson in a rented residence ('Mt. Molehill' in Nashville). The guitar parts were contributed by session musician Doug Showalter, who recorded multiple improvised takes—including an octave melody and rhythmic scratch tracks—through a G&L Legacy Stratocaster into a 1978 Fender Vibrochamp. The final sound was achieved by blending these miked amp signals with direct tracks passed through a Strymon BigSky reverb for increased depth and space.
