Castle on the Hill was written and produced by Ed Sheeran and Benny Blanco in 2015. The recording process utilized professional studio environments, including RAK Studios, Matza Ball Studios, and Gingerbread Man Studios. Ed Sheeran performed the acoustic guitar parts himself.
