Session guitarist Elliott Randall plugged his instrument directly into the only amplifier on the floor – an Ampeg SVT bass head – and ran it through an 8×10 speaker cabinet. The studio engineer placed a close‑mic on the cabinet while also miking the room, allowing the amp’s raw, high‑gain tone to sit prominently in the mix without any additional pedals. Randall’s technique combined rapid alternate‑picked runs, wide‑bending double‑stops, and precise volume‑control phrasing, all of which were preserved by the clean, unprocessed signal chain.
