The recording

Recorded at West Beach Recorders in Hollywood during 1993‑94 under the production of Fat Mike and Ryan Greene (MusicBrainz credit). Guitarist El Hefe employed a 1979 Fender Stratocaster with a vintage tremolo, feeding a Boss DS‑1 Distortion into a Marshall JCM800 2203 head mated to a 4×12 Celestion G12 cabinet, achieving the tight, high‑gain, palm‑muted tone that drives 'Linoleum'. The track was captured with a Shure SM57 on the cabinet and mixed by Ryan Greene, preserving the aggressive midrange that defines the song.

Practical playing approach

Recreation guidance, not a claim about undocumented studio control positions.

  1. 1.Palm‑mute the low strings on the downbeats to lock in the chug.
  2. 2.Use rapid alternate picking for the fast down‑stroke riffs.
  3. 3.Engage the tremolo bar for the subtle dive‑bomb during the intro.
  4. 4.Set the pickup selector to bridge for maximum brightness and attack.
