On Radiohead’s 1992 debut single “Creep”, Jonny Greenwood tracked his parts with a Fender Telecaster, picking the bridge pickup for a bright attack. In the verses the guitar signal runs through a Demeter Tremulator TRM‑1 set to a slow tremolo, then into an Electro‑Harmonix Poly Chorus for a wide‑stereo shimmer, before being fed into a Fender Deluxe 85 clean channel. For the soaring chorus the signal is routed straight into a Marshall Shredmaster amp cranked to full gain, producing the thick, saturated distortion that defines the song’s hook. The tone was captured at Courtyard Studios in Oxford with producers Sean Slade and Paul Kolderie.
